WINNER of the BEST THRILLER at the 2016 NEXT GENERATION INDIE BOOK AWARDS

“...a page turning thriller. Fast paced and masterfully written." — Urban Book Reviews

"...a brilliant novel...one of those page-turners that’s impossible to put down." — Readers’ Favorite

C.E Brody is a man of the world but prefers life in a cabin on the Yukon River. For a living he flies an ancient float plane and runs a highway repair shop. Single, fiercely independent, a champion for the little guy, Brody loves his dogs and plane, hates cops and phones, and cooks a great meal for two.

After repairing her car, Brody is hired by a beautiful and mysterious woman to fly her over a gold mine. The two spot a missing plane. They land and find two men inside. He knows the pilot, she knows the passenger.

Within hours, Brody suddenly becomes the center of attention for the RCMP, the FBI, and two underworld gangs. His beautiful passenger is making romantic advances. He’s beaten up, his plane is hijacked, a friend’s child is kidnapped. With no idea what's going on, he's bound and determined to get answers. And get even.

A thriller, a romance, an adventure, Yukon Audit is filled with imagery and insight into the land called the Yukon, its gold rush history, its colorful characters, its geography and geology. If you’ve never been to the Yukon, this is your ticket.

YUKON AUDIT A CE Brody Novel Ken Baird Books Reviews

  • Ken Baird's novel, "Yukon Audit" is a thoroughly enjoyable book! Definitely a "page-turner"! I shall be keeping it on the shelf so I can read it again!
The characters were well developed as was the plot. The descriptions were appreciated; easy to imagine the North the terrain and the people!
As well as an understanding of people as exhibited in his characters, Baird shows a knowledge of mechanics, the Beaver, gold mining, the north, and international intrigue,
I think everyone would enjoy this book. I shall be buying more copies of the paperback for gifts!
Looking forward to Baird's next C.E. Brody novel.
  • Yukon Audit is a classic page turner of the old school model. Brody and his beloved DeHav Beaver take the reader on a helluva ride that brings to mind the swashbucklers and adventurers of another time. There is an air of Han Solo in the Yukon here, with all the danger, romance and humor of stories no longer told. Having spent my share of time in these climes and around these people, Ken Baird has captured the rare air one finds in such places. The Yukon and its characters is fully realized and makes the perfect backdrop for the story and its intrigues. A have no doubt Brody will find his fans, and we will all be waiting, not so patiently, for Ken Baird’s next outing with Brody and his next adventure.
  • Having heard of Ken Baird only because he is the neighbor of my close friends, I chose this novel as a sort of "favor." It winds up that serendipity struck yet again as I encountered a novelist who I quite enjoyed reading. This novel is along the lines of Nelson DeMille's writing but not quite as broad in scope DeMille's antagonists are often terrorists attempting a world takeover, Baird's is human trafficker running a money laundering scheme in the Yukon. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the character development and the wonderful descriptions of a part of the world that is still so remote and wild. There were moments that evidenced this as a first-attempt novel, and I'm sure will be refined by Mr. Baird as he continues to write, but overall, the style and flow of the book were very solid; the descriptions of natural surroundings were image evoking and fetching; and the movement of the plot was well-paced and emotionally enticing.
  • Outstanding!

This book was a joy to read - I usually do not have the time to invest in "recreational" reading since I spend most of my reading time in technical writings, so anything I read for fun MUST have an excellent return on investment. This book was worth every minute spent reading it.

I especially loved the way that the DeHavilland DHC-2 (Beaver) was brought to life, and the obvious "inside" knowledge of the Yukon and the Gold Mining industry - all presented in a great story that keeps you reading (even if it is past your bed-time).

Anyway, easily the best book I have read in a good, long while!
  • My daughter knowing my reading tastes recommended this book to me. It was a delight ! Great characters. The lead character Brodie is a complicated and very interesting guy. Could make for a great series. Great backdrop set in the Yukon with lots of information about life there. Plot moves very swiftly to an excellent conclusion. A terrific read. Look forward to round two. Stanley Fimberg.
  • An easy read from a new author. Paints an intriguing picture of the Yukon with lots of local details. The story moves at a good pace and the main characters are well portrayed. The author definitely has an aviation background. I would be interested in reading a sequel.
  • This was an exceptionally well written story. The characters were vividly drawn. The story was engaging throughout.
  • Enjoyable read, recommend consideration
